Stops: 18

Length of the line: 6.3 km (3.9 miles)

The system is based on Translohr electrically-powered vehicles, running on rubber-tyred wheels but guided mechanically by a single rail. The overall project consists of two lines, Mestre-Venice (14 km - 8.8 miles) and Mestre-Marghera (6 km - 3.8 miles). In particular, the segment involving Venice runs over the Ponte della Libertà, which crosses the Lagoon, and terminates at Piazzale Roma. In order to cross the railway lines near the RFI national railway station, the direct line to Marghera includes a tram underpass 450 m (1476 ft) long. At the terminus of Favoro is a depot-workshop which also includes the control centre for the line. MM developed the infrastructural design for all these works: electrical substations, overhead contact line, points control systems, telecommunications systems, electrical stopping systems, various installations in the depot and underpass.
