Anfossi station

Located at 40, via Anfossi, the station was commissioned on 20 July 1915. It was restructured in 1934 and partly rebuilt in 1968.

The station has 16 submersible pumps pumping water from about 16 m (52 ft) below ground level; the basic water flow totals 540 L (119 imp gal) per second.

A small, 629- m3 (138,361 imp gal) reservoir is used as the settling tank only.

The two main pumps with a rated capacity of 200 L (44 imp gal) per second each, propel water from the reservoir into the piping system. Each is powered by a 165 kW electric motor.

The Anfossi station can be used both as a back-up supply at peak times and as a continuous service to respond to basic water demand. It serves the central-western part and the adjacent Vittoria zone.

In February 1992, a purification stage composed of four carbon filter tanks started operation and another stage consisting of five aeration towers started in May 2006. The two systems operate in parallel and have a total processing capacity of some 1100 L (242 imp gal/s) per second.
