Armi station

Armi station, located at 14, viale Cassiodoro, between the centre and the western suburbs of the city, backs up supply of the quarters around the former International Fair centre and of part of the central-western area.

It is a medium-size plant with 18 wells with submersible pumps capable of 660 L (145 imp gal) per second. The plant was commissioned on 3 July 1904 and was first rebuilt in 1965 and again in 2006.

The underground water table is 25 m (82 ft) below ground level.

The water reservoir and the settling basin hold 4,215 m3 (927,000 imp gal) of water. The three main pumps with a rated capacity of 350 L (77 imp gal) per second, powered by a 232 kW motor each, feed water from the reservoir into the system. The water is pumped from a depth of 50 m (164 ft).

A purification stage composed of 14 carbon filters positioned between the wells and the storage reservoir was commissioned in July 1997. The station operates around the clock.
