Novara station

The Novara station is one of the most modern and functional MM pumping stations.

Situated at 300, via Novara, at the extreme west of the City, in the middle of a large public green area (Western park), it began operating in autumn 1980.

The underground water table is about 16 m (52 ft) below the ground level.

The plant uses 21 wells and 287 kW submersible pumps with a rated water flow totalling 840 L (185 imp gal) per second and it has two reservoirs with a total capacity of about 16,000 m3 (3.52 million imp gal).

The four main pumps convey water from the tanks into the system at a rated capacity of 400 L (88 imp gal) per second each. The purification stage composed of six aeration towers was commissioned in May 1994. The water from the plant is pumped towards the urban centre near the Vialba station to back up water supply in the north-western part of the City.

The Novara station is also fitted with a CCTV system for better control of the equipment operation and surveillance of the entire station. The station operates around the clock.
