Vialba station

Vialba is located in the north-western part of the City, near the Quarto Oggiaro quarter, in via Val Lagarina 11. It began operating on 27 June 1962 and was restructured in 1984.

The station is equipped with 19 submersible pumps that pump water from the underground water table at about 26 m (85 ft) below ground level; the basic water flow totals 670 L (147 imp gal).per second.

The water reservoir and the settling basin can hold 5,165 m3 (1.136 million imp gal) of water.

Two of the four main pumps pumping water from the reservoir into the piping system have a rated capacity of 350 L (77 imp gal) per second each and the other two 250 L (55 imp gal) per second. They are powered by 236 kW and 184 kW electric motors respectively.

In May 2004, a purification plant composed of four carbon filter tanks started operating and a purification stage composed of five aeration towers began operating in April 2007.

The Vialba pumping station is essential to keep the steady water pressure in all the north-west areas of the City which is why it is kept in constant operation.
