Return to the environment

The City of Milan wastewater treatment system enables the re-use of recycled water for irrigation purposes, thus reducing the quantity of drinking water used for this and preventing the use of sewage which fails to meet the legal limits.
The Milan Nosedo plant treats all the incoming wastewater for irrigation reuse, but only part of it is actually used for that purpose by the Roggia Vettabbia consortium in a large district to the southeast of the City. The water treated by the Milan San Rocco plant is destined for irrigation reuse in a large district extending in the southern Milan area bordering with the Province of Pavia.
