Environment
Environment respect is a priority for MM. The company operates in a context where it is necessary to proceed with extreme attention to the various environmental components that may be involved during the design and construction of public works, in management of the water system and in the management of the assets of Public Housing of the City of Milan.
As evidence of its commitment, MM has obtained and maintains active an Environmental Management System certified under the UNI EN ISO 14001 for the Engineering and Water Services, and has identified the "Environmental Policy", i.e. a commitment to ensure the protection of the environment and respect for the law on the environment, ensuring on the work of all the "actors" involved and contributing to the growth of awareness about environmental responsibility.
MM adopted the following Environmental Policy:
- to ensure that business activities are conducted according to the laws and regulations, through the constant search for value increase, the reduction of their environmental impacts; the minimization of the non-quality factors, the reliability and safety;
- to guarantee the product / service provided to the customer at various stages concerning: the correspondence to the input data, in respect of time, interface and support, the evaluation of the environmental aspects involved;
- to promote the image of the Company, i.e. projection of their skills and attention to environmental protection;
- to facilitate the effective and efficient development of business processes, as an expression of the way in which the Company ensures consistent output to the needs and expectations of the customer and the attention to the rational use of natural resources;
- to facilitate the consolidation and extension of the Environmental Management System through the progressive vertical integration and horizontal organization, through the development of team activities and sharing of cross-functional objectives, to produce an overall result adhering to the expectations set target;
- to promote technical research and training, theoretical and practical courses aimed at the constant improvement of competences in environmental matters and their adaptation to the demands expressed by the relevant laws and the market, as well as maintaining a high standard of motivation of human resources.
Engineering
The constant attention to environmental issues is present in the design of the works, for which MM is committed to promote applied research and continuous training of technical designers so that each new project constitutes an environmental progress. In his design, MM is extremely careful to the various environmental components that may be involved during the construction of the works (air quality, water supply and waste water, soil management and soil, waste and land management, noise and vibration, etc.). Since the implementation of activities, and as a result of the construction site, are contracted to outside companies, MM is however indirectly responsible for the environmental impacts arising from the construction activities. During the execution of the works, and especially when the construction management activities are carried out by MM, the Company undertakes to ensure, in addition to environmental protection, including compliance with the law on the environment. Therefore, the Works Directors are personally committed to oversee the work of contractors and other actors present on site, contributing to the growth of their awareness about environmental responsibility.Engineering Environment certificate (in italian only)
Water Service
MM in 2010 obtained - one of the first water management companies in Italy - the certification of Environmental Management System according to the UNI EN ISO 14001, which recognizes the commitment to environmental protection and pollution prevention. The Water Service promotes the sustainable use of water resources, implementing a conscious management of water, constantly monitors the network losses and promoting the reuse of wastewater in agriculture. Also MM pursuing the energy efficiency activities through research and the development of solutions that minimize energy consumption resulting from the installations and activities will maximize efficiency. MM intervenes in the territory hydraulic defense in case of flooding of the surface water and manages the culverts (underground sections of natural and artificial waterways) for the Municipality of Milan. Finally, through the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, ensures full functionality of the water supply and sanitation and avoids the risks of leakage of waste water into the ground, protecting the aquifer.Water System environment certificate
