In milan, an integrated transport system

In Lombardy, Metropolitana Milanese has prepared the first project for modernisation of the infrastructure of LeNord (formerly Nord Milano), the most important regional rail network in Italy, with 217 km (136 miles) of track and 68 stations. Modernisation of the regional rail lines converging on the junction in Milan has contributed to the organisation of a type of regional metropolitan railway system which, thanks to the Link, the interchanges with the Milan subway and integration with bus routes, is improving service quality while containing operating costs.

New connections with the airports

At the request of the Lombardy Region, Metropolitana Milanese has collaborated in the design of the FNM rail link between Saronno and Malpensa.

The milan – asso line

Also in Lombardy, Milan Underground has participated in the project to modernize the Milan – Asso line, with the aim of substantially improving the service and boosting carrying capacity to meet the natural increase in demand and the potential recovery of some road traffic.
