Brief description

Metropolitana Milanese is overseeing the electromechanical and structural reorganisation of the AP Padua pumping station, which has been made necessary by wear and tear of the machinery and pipes, the unreliability of some of the instrumentation and the need to upgrade the electrical installations. Built in 1969, the pumping station has never been subjected to any overall restructuring operations, only minor alterations to keep the system in operation. As regards the electromechanical reorganisation, it is planned to completely replace all the electromechanical and hydraulic equipment in the pumping room and the adjacent premises. On the electrical side, it is necessary to replace the transformer substation equipment, the command and control panels of the various sections of the station, the piping and the light fittings. Particular attention has been paid to the design and implementation of suitable outdoor lighting systems, the surveillance system with cameras and anti-intrusion system. One of the purposes of the project is to restore to full efficiency the active carbon tank which constitutes the only phase of mechanical treatment for water drawn from the wells, by applying a number of improvements to ensure easier and more efficient management. With regard to the structural alterations, in addition to work on the active carbon tank, complete reorganisation of the storage tanks is planned, from the covers to internal sealing, conversion of the storage areas to meet the new plant engineering requirements and extension of the building to accommodate new technical equipment.
