The southern LRT, also opened on 7 December 2003, runs for 2.9 km (1.8 miles) from Porta Ludovica to Piazza Abbiategrasso. Integration of the LRT required alteration to the cross-sections of roads traversed by the LRT, and for one section of its route, from Via Giambologna to Via Medeghino, it was also necessary to move many underground utilities. To allow passage of the LRT, the bridge of the Milano Rogoredo - S. Cristoforo railway was widened and rebuilt in concrete, and in future an interchange with a new railway station may also be planned. The southern LRT has 10 stops: Porta Ludovica, Castelbarcos, Giambologna, Tibaldi, Pezzotti, Cermenate, Volvino, Agrippa Medeghino Abboategrasso M2. tThe southern LRT has an interchange with the Line 2 in Abbiategrasso.
