Duration of the works: 2011 – 2014 The new line runs for 14.2 km (8.9 miles). The first section, up to Paderno Dugnano (Calderara district) will be double-track and the second (Calderara to Seregno) single-track with double track at crossings. The project involves redevelopment of the Desio-Milan interurban tramway, with an extension to Seregno, converting the current obsolete tram system into a new LRT, in terms of tracks, equipment technology, the types of trains and operating criteria. The project forms part of a strategic regional and provincial plan involving various agencies and the municipalities of Milan, Bresso, Cormano, Cusano Milanino, Paderno Dugnano, Nova Milanese, Desio and Seregno.
